The Trip Festival 2010

The Trip Festival May 28th - 30th is a cosmic, folk, balaeric, psych rock odyssey of a festival and i for one cannot bloody wait !!

Located near the remote but very beautiful coastline of Llanfaethlu on the Isle of Anglesey, this festival boasts one of the most exciting dj line-ups i've seen in donkies.

Beardies most welcome.

Clarks

When i was a kid they had a Clarks shop in town with one of those super ace foot measuring devices. You know, the one where the sides and ends close in to ensure tip top accuracy and most importantly of all, you wouldn't grow out them soon enough to cost your folks another small fortune in the shoe department.

Of recent years Clarks have upped their game and none better than these little belters....

Ned Doheny

Never heard of Mr Doheny before a couple of weeks ago and now can't get enough of this sunshine beauty of a track. Apparently charted in the UK in 76 and taken from the album Hard Candy....

http://souleance.bandcamp.com/album/le-plaisir-chemise

Check out this 3 tracker by Souleance on the mighty First Word label outta sunny Leeds.

After the success of last E.P /mini album Le Monde, (with the track Manana getting a license from Gilles Peterson for the Brownswood bubblers 4 compilation no less). Souleance are back again via First Word with this ace 3 tracker. Le Plaisir is a break, a wonky 303 bassline, JB horn stabs (and the odd grunt), keys and very little else. Tis all about that bassline though which grabs ones testicles and don't let go.
File under wonkyitalobalearicbreaks....Infectious !

Also the "track" Chemise is actually an edit of She Can't Love You by Chemise, released in '82 on Emergency Records (also home to Shannon) and has just been released on the Spinna boogie comp via BBE.

Super handy & super cheeky...

Fatback Band Let the Drums Speak / KRL Remember Donny

Let the drums speak by the Fatback Band was always ahead of its time mainly due to slightly off kilter (dare i say, wonky) beats. Originally released in 1985 and taken from their album Yum Yum, 35 or so years later the break is sampled to great effect in the stunning Remember Donny. Enjoy 2 past & future classics...
